
The day-to-day management of the Market is carried out by a Management Team comprising of a Market Manager, Claire Strodder; Assistant Market Manager, Gavin Powell; and Market Assistant, Jade Fitzpatrick. Claire, as Market Manager, is behind the scenes every day in the management of the Market, organising the next market day and answering any enquiries. You will see Claire, Gavin and Jade each week at the Market setting up, packing down, at the Market Office and wash station.

Claire has been the Market Manager for the past 3 years. Before working in the role Claire loved markets and now gets to live and breath markets for her job! Claire is the person behind the scenes writing our newsletter, posting on social media, sorting out the finances and stallholder matters amongst many other things! What Claire loves most about the Market is the connection to the local community, working with great people at the Market and then of course the fresh, local and seasonal produce.

Gavin has worked at the Market for 12 years making him a piece of the furniture here at Murwillumbah. Gavin is also the assistant at other local farmers’ markets in the Byron Shire for the past 20 years plus making him the go-to expert on market set up and wash stations. Gavin loves having a meaningful job giving local farmers a chance to sell locally where he also gets to work outside in the fresh air. Gavin also loves that the Market provides a fun and safe social space for the community to gather each week.

Jade has worked at the Market for two years. Jade stepped into this role when Claire took a small absence for maternity and has not left since. Jade is now a crucial fixture at our Market manning our wash station and helping customers and stallholders. Jade is also the go-to man for our ATM – to help keep cash alive at our Market.
